Texas Rainwater Catchment Association

We are pleased to announce that the Texas Rainwater Catchment Association (TRCA) is now an official organization. The by-laws were unanimously approved by our membership and the board met on 3/17/08 and accepted the vote and we are now an official organization. We are waiting ARCSA approval at their next meeting later this month to become an official chapter of ARCSA.

Now, it is time to get to work and start recruiting new members. To make this organization work, we need as many members as possible. I have attached a membership application to this message. Please forward it to anyone you can think of who might be interested. If you are a Master Gardener or Master Naturalist and have been through the specialist training, please forward this to other MG and MN who have been through the training or if you know they are interested in rainwater collection. If you are a professional, please forward this to other professionals you know who are not yet members, or forward to any and all of your customers who currently collect rainwater. You can also print copies and take to any consultations and presentations you do.

Our web site has been officially launched at http://www.texrca.org. Check it out and look over all the pages and give me the following suggestions;

1. On the Members page, check to see that you are listed properly as either a business or individual member. Check your web page links and e-mail addresses and be sure they work properly. If you are a business member and I did not have or couldn't find your web page, send it to me and I will add.  Check all spelling and phone numbers and let me know if I need to make any corrections. If you are an individual member and want to remove your e-mail address or add your phone number let me know. I didn't want to put any individual phone numbers without permission. We need to get a lot more members for this page.

2. On the News and Events page, check this out routinely for additional news or events. If you are aware of anything that needs to be added, send me a message and I will update. If you are giving or are aware of anyone giving rainwater presentations or classes, send me the information and I will add it to the events.

3. For Ordinance and Safety/Health, I have not added anything at this time to those pages. Let me know of anything you are aware of or have suggestions for what you would like to see there.

4. On the Professionals page. This is for members only. If you are a professional, let me know how you want to be classified. We will be listing professionals by category, such as suppliers, installers, designers, consultants, maintainers, inspectors, testers, etc. as stipulated in our by-laws. If you want multiple categories, let me know and I will work on how to get everyone listed they way they prefer.

You can also help us out with our web site by going to it as often as possible. We need more hits so we move up the ladder on search engines. If you have a little free time, go to Google or Yahoo and search for Texas Rainwater Catchment Association and see if you can find our web page and click on it from there. The more that happens, the higher up the search engine list we go.

One final thing. The web page template I used does not have a spell checker, so let me know if you see anything that needs correcting.

Thanks,

Rick Daniel
