Volunteer Opportunities

 

 

Title............Wildlife Rescue Volunteers.

 

 

Description......Volunteers support/augment Wildlife Rescue and

                 Rehabilitation's small full-time staff in a

                 variety of ways, depending on training and

                 preference. Volunteers rescue injured, trapped,

                 displaced and orphaned animals; pick up such

                 animals from citizens; transport and release

                 animals trapped by homeowners; assist staff in

                 animal food-preparation, facility maintenance

                 and animal care; transport animals and supplies;

                 perform administrative and educational tasks;

                 and assist in fundraising events. Volunteers

                 receive training for work with animals.

 

 

Target

Audience.........Responsible animal-loving adults over 18.

 

 

Cost.............Free.

 

 

Location.........The refuge is located on Highway 46 near Boerne.

                 Rescue work, trap releases, special events,

                 etc., take place anywhere in San Antonio area.

 

 

Dates/Times......By arrangement. Volunteers schedule work at the

                 refuge as convenient. For rescues, volunteers

                 are called as needed and may decline missions

                 without fear of reproach when personal conflicts

                 preclude participation or when they feel a

                 mission exceeds their level of experience.

 

Special

requirements.....Rescue and animal care work involves a moderate

                 level of physical labor. Rescues are often at

                 night.
