Field Trips

Description................Introduction to urban
birdwatching, guided by an
experienced birder. Beginning lesson on how to
spot/identify birds. Expect to see several dozen
species of birds, depending on season, from
hummingbirds to hawks. Other wildlife may be seen, and
plants are often discussed, too.

Location…................
house: in 5900 block of Broadway, turn west on Ogden
near
[left] one block to Viesca, then turn right, enter parking
lot on left).
Dates/Times.............Second Saturday of each
month,
August,
Special
requirements...........Participants walk a couple
of miles at a leisurely pace. No
rough terrain. Dress for weather and to avoid scratches
and insect bites.
Binoculars are almost essential for full
benefit of this program. Sponsor can often loan a few
binoculars, but call ahead to be sure.
Sponsor/POC……...San Antonio Audubon Society. Walk
leader is usually
groups or special needs. Individuals or families can just
show up, but call ahead appreciated.
Other Notes...........Sponsor can occasionally
provide speakers for meetings
and classrooms, but capacity limited. Contact same POC.
