Title.....................Alamo Area Master Naturalists.

 

Description..........40 hours of volunteer training on natural history, ecology,

                            land use, wildlife, botany, archaeology, human impact on

                            nature, winning community support, protecting natural

                            resources.

 

Target

Audience.............General public.

 

Cost....................$125 for training materials; training itself is free.

 

Location..............Friedrich Park, IH-10 West near Camp Bullis.

Special

requirements.......This is training for volunteers. Participants are expected to

                            contribute 40 hours of service a year educating the public

                            on nature by leading nature walks at San Antonio wilderness

                            areas and nature preserves; doing research; creating

                            demonstration wildscapes; working with schools and youth

                            groups to start outdoor classrooms, nature centers, and

                            birding/hiking/photography programs; public speaking;

                            working with business to preserve urban forest; working

                            educational booths at events; writing for publication;

                            helping to run the Master Naturalist program; etc.

                            Participants should be capable of moderate physical activity

                            and public speaking.
